Be part of Halloween history and participate in the FIRST EVER Halloween Horror Nights Costume Contest.
Guests attending Halloween Horror Nights on Halloween night will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes inside the park and even enter a costume contest!
Event Entry
All Halloween Horror Nights guests in costumes will be evaluated against Halloween Horror Nights costume guidelines at the parking hub located at the entrance to CityWalk. Any guest not meeting these guidelines will be required to change in order to be admitted into Halloween Horror Nights.
Contest Registration and Preliminary Judging
All Halloween Horror Nights guests interested in participating in the costume contest must register and be pre-qualified at the designated Halloween Horror Nights costume judging station also located at the parking hub prior to 10pm. The costume criteria for the preliminary judging will be originality and creativity.
Contest Finalists
The names of the Halloween Horror Nights guests with the top 15 costumes as determined by the judges at the parking hub judging station will be posted by 10:30 pm on a display located next to the Terra Throne at the Port of Entry inside of Islands of Adventure (letter “H” on the Halloween Horror Nights event guide). These top 15 contestants need to report back to the Terra Throne by 11 pm for the final contest.

Halloween Horror Nights guests will decide winners based on level of applause.

$5,000 top prize; prizes also awarded for 2nd and 3rd place.
Halloween Horror Nights Costume Restrictions: - No guest may wear any type of mask, face application, or face painting on property which restricts their vision or covers their face completely so that the guest may or may not be identifiable by a standard form of identification.
- No guest may wear any large or bulky costume which may obstruct movement.
- To experience a ride or attraction, no guest may wear or carry on any capes, loose flowing clothing, wigs, hats, props or any other item which is not secured.
- No guest may carry as a part of a costume, any type of sharp object that may cause harm or injury to another guest; this includes any type of sword, bracelet, necklace, chains, collars or embellishment that has protruding spears or spikes.
- No guest may carry any type of weapon or mace; this includes toy weapons, such as plastic guns, plastic ammunition, or other plastic imitation weaponry.
- No costumes that insinuate explicit, sexual content or intent are permitted on property.
- No nudity is allowed on property, all costumes must cover 100% of a guest’s private areas.
- All guests must be wearing proper footwear; shoes are required on property.
- No fatigues or terrorist outfits are permissible.
- No costumes that simulate the uniform of a police officer, security officer, firefighter or other emergency responder.
- No costumes that are offensive, contemptible, highly controversial or in poor taste are permissible.
- No live animals or insects are permitted.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY ENTRY TO ANY PERSON WEARING A COSTUME UNIVERSAL, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, DEEMS INAPPROPRIATE OR OFFENSIVE.
Costume Contest Guidelines and Restrictions:
- You must be twenty-one years of age or over to enter and win, and a legal resident of and currently living in the state of Florida.
- Employees and their immediate families of Universal City Development Partners, Ltd. their respective parents or affiliated entities, advertising and promotion agencies, the sponsors and prize donors are not eligible. Only one prize per person will be awarded.
- You must be attending Halloween Horror Nights on October 31, 2005 to be eligible for the contest.
- All guests in costumes will be evaluated against Halloween Horror Nights costume guidelines stated above. Any guest not meeting these guidelines will be required to change in order to be admitted into Halloween Horror Nights.
Halloween Horror Nights Behavior Guidelines:
- We have trained professional scare actors to scare our guests. Please do not attempt to scare other guests in your costume. Universal Orlando reserves the right to expel any guest trying to scare other guests.
- Don’t mistreat the event’s scare actors. Doing so may result in expulsion from the park.
- Line jumping, foul language and behavior that is not appropriate in public will be dealt with accordingly, including expulsion from the event.
